CHRISTY DORAN'S SOUND FOUNTAINFOTOS MARTIN BONETTO

Franco Fontanarrosa was born in april 18th, 1983 in Rosario, Argentina. Son of the great humorist and writer Roberto Fontanarrosa, Franco was exposed to art, observation and the habit of creation since he was a kid.

At age of 11 he starts studying electric bass. At age of 17 he starts a project, “Fuga de Cerebros” with pianist Paula Shocrón and drummer Alexis Perepelycia. This band got the attention of the jazz scene in Rosario and Franco was elected as “revelation artist” at the Rosario Jazz Festival in year 2001. At age of 20 Franco starts living in Buenos Aires, city in wich he lives today. During these years, he has been part of different projects such as “Capitanes de La Industria”, “Datrebil”, “Panza”, “Axes”, “Resistencia Chaco”, “Orquesta Ruido Negro”, “Temporal”, “Andrea Alvarez Trío”, etc.

Franco has worked in many projects with actor, comedian and musician Mex Urtizberea. He recorded on his solo album, played live on two theatre plays, and worked as a live musician on the TV programs “Mañana Vemos”, “Laboratorios Dormevú” and “La Kermex”. In this TV programs Franco accompany many artists such as Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, Lenine, Liliana Herrero, Rodolfo Mederos, Luis Salinas, Rubén Rada, etc. Franco also has composed music for theatre plays, music for short films, music for TV programs, institutional music for TV channels, and he even acted on a theatre play as a musician rol on a play inspired by the stories writen by he´s father. He also makes “stop motion” animation.

Franco is part of the free improvisation and performance duo called “Niño Envuelto” with artist Alexis Perepelycia. With this project they won two subsidys, one from “Fondo Nacional de la Artes” (Argentina) and another from “Ministerio de Innovación y Cultura de la provincia de Santa Fe” (Argentina) to make a experimental film called “Ajendra” wicjh was written and directed by “Niño Envuelto”.

In year 2005 Franco starts his own project called “La Mujer Barbuda”, actually, this project is formed by Martín Pantyrer (baritone sax and bass clarinet), Nicolás “Mu” Sanchez (electric guitar), Lulo Isod (drums) and Franco Fontanarrosa (electric bass and composition).

La Mujer Barbuda has two albums edited, the second one was edited by SONY and has been called by the press as one the most fresh and innovative musical realities of Argentina. La Mujer Barbuda was also elected as “revelation artist” for their debut album by the press in a poll made to the journalists by the website “El Intruso”.

Now in year 2015 he´s starting a new international project, with Christy Doran and Lukas Mantel, both musicians that live in Switzerland. The new band is called “Christy Doran´s SOUND FOUNTAIN”.

During his carrer Franco Fontanarrosa has played on over 20 albums, and has played with artists such as David Fuiczynski, Akira Nakamura, Enrique Norris, Paula Shocrón, Santiago Vazquez, Wenchi Lazo, Lucio Balduini, Carto Brandán, Bárbara Togander, Juan Pablo Hernandez, Fernando Kabusacki, Jota Morelli, Franco Luciani, La Bomba de Tiempo and many others.
